In February 2003 NZP Holdings Ltd and Just the Berries Holdings Ltd agreed to form a 50:50 joint venture company, Just the Berries Ltd (JTB, www.justtheberries.co.nz). The new company will be managed by NZP Holdings Ltd.

The business of JTB is to develop and market products obtained from blackcurrants, the blackcurrant plant and any other commercial berry or berry plant. However, the initial focus will be almost exclusively on products derived from blackcurrants.

The product range that JTB intends to produce includes:

• Ready-to-drink and concentrated blackcurrant juices. 
• Currantex 20, a powdered extract from blackcurrant pomace standardised to contain 20% anthocyanins. The range will expand to include Currantex 7 – 30 for use in the food additives, supplement and cosmetics areas. 
• Blackcurrant seed oil, which uniquely contains the omega-3 oils, alpha-linolenic acid and stearidonic acid and the omega-6 oil, gamma-linoleic acid. 
• Supplement products, including a range of nutritional supplement formulations designed to assist with enhancement of vision, brain development and prevention of dementia. 
• Products of fresh-frozen and freeze dried blackcurrants for food and bakery uses. 
• Products from the blackcurrant leaf especially tea formulations.

Just the Berries products are aimed at the international market.
