Ferritin is a naturally occurring mammalian iron storage protein. Ferritin is the main iron storage protein and is predominant in the liver, spleen and bone marrow.
NZP produces two types of ferritin, bovine and equine. Equine has a higher iron content compared to bovine ferritin.
Ferritin is a dietary supplement used for the treatment of iron deficiency anaemia. The scientific literature indicates that it is more effective than traditional iron supplements like ferrous sulphate and gives rise to fewer side effects. Ferritin is particularly useful in the treatment of iron deficiency anaemia during pregnancy.
NZP Ferritin is sold on the basis of iron content and averages about 200mg/g for Lyophilised Ferritin.
